Trapiche Malbec Finca Ambrosia 2013 |
Wine Advocate 96 points - As it tends to happen, the 2013 Terroir Series Malbec Finca Ambrosia is my favorite from the series. It has all the flowers, wild herbs and austere minerality from the high-altitude place in a cool year. It’s both delicate and powerful-a combination rare to find. This is a textbook example of the variety, place and vintage. Bravo! 24,000 bottles were filled in September 2015..June/2018
James Suckling 95 points - This is a very linear and refined with a purity of fruit and stone character. Full body, and intense. Plenty of fruit but in a focused and serious way. Needs at least two to three years of bottle age..June/2017
Decanter 94 points - From celebrated winemaker Daniel Pi, this is a softer style of Malbec despite its high alcohol. The new French oak (18 months) is well integrated and the palate is silky with ripe, spiced black berries, fresh acidity and lovely floral lift..January/2018
Vinous 91 points - (15% alcohol, from roughly 20-year-old vines planted on active limestone): Saturated ruby to the rim. Pungent aromas of blackberry, licorice, graphite, violet and wild herbs. The most mineral-driven of Trapiche’s Terroir Series bottlings, with its blackberry and cassis flavors accented by thyme and chalk. Spreads out to saturate the palate on the back end, finishing vigorous and very long, with noteworthy energy and firm but well-integrated tannins..July/2017
