Our village appellation Chassagne-Montrachet comes from a single parcel of vines lying at the extreme northern end of the village in the named plot "Les Houillères" and bordering the Puligny-Montrachet appellation.
History
Planted in 1989 with selected clones from the domaine's older vines, this cuvée performs very evenly from one vintage to the next. The grapes tend to ripen early and have to be watched carefully to ensure that they are among the first to be harvested.
Terroir
The red-limestone soil is level and deep with limestone predominating. It enjoys excellent exposure on a prolongation of the famous named plot "Enceignières" overlooking the village of Chassagne-Montrachet.
Tasting
The wines from this plot are rich and ripe, mineral, and long in the mouth. They can be long-lived, thanks to the capacity of their terroir to conserve proper acidity, provided the harvest date has been well-chosen.
