This Chardonnay shows big aromatics on the nose, with notes of passionfruit, pear, Gravenstein apple and petrichor (wet stone). The palate is fresh and rich with flavors of Bartlett pear, crushed white rose, and the slightly acidic creaminess of a Meyer lemon tart. Overall, this full bodied wine is lively yet weighty, and a perfect pairing partner. Sullivan Vineyard, part of the Dutton Ranch collection of vineyards, is located on a gentle north-facing slope at a 200-foot elevation in the Green Valley sub-AVA of the Russian River Valley.
With 30+ year-old plantings of Wente selection Chardonnay growing in Goldridge soil, Sullivan Vineyard elicits a rich and luscious wine with bright, crisp acidity. This Chardonnay has peach, apricot, wet stones and spices on the nose with apricot, holiday spice, stone fruits and crème brulee on the palate. Overall, this wine is rich and opulent, though balanced with a medium to full body. The delicate finish is long-lasting.
