Santini Collective Vin de France Champlitte 2017

Champlitte is the village where the vines are planted, located between Champagne and western Jura, about 1.5 hours northeast by car from Beaune. Certified organic since 1985. From an organic grower in the village of Champlitte, this tiny viticultural area, unknown to most even in Burgundy, is a stone’s throw from southern Champagne, and western Jura.

The soil is a limestone outcropping, with Pinot Noir much more reminiscent of Coteaux Champenois, very austere and chalky. This parcel is an old-field blend of approximately 3/4 Pinot Noir and 1/4 Chardonnay, all picked and vinified together to make it a light rouge.
