The 2016 ‘Echezeaux’ shows weighty flavors of dark berries, earth, game, and oak, gorgeously integrated together, giving way to a rustic, grippy finish; will age gracefully.
Once again moderate wood is present on the more obviously menthol-infused aromas of red currant, cherry, Asian-style spice and a hint of dried orange peel. The middle weight flavors also possess a highly seductive mid-palate mouthfeel that contrasts considerably with the rustic, warm and slightly disjointed finish. As the description suggests this is somewhat awkward today but the underlying material appears to be present such that there is a reasonable chance that ultimately it will harmonize.
