In its ninth year (and sixth vintage) we find the vineyard offering fruit from all eight blocks planted, with a resulting step up stylistically, offering a richer, more complex wine worthy of contemplation. The character of Mardikian is still being revealed as the insights we gain from spending more time farming this treasured vineyard leads to all that Jim Pratt and I hoped when we first dusted our boots with these soils.
On this vintage, delicate aromas of perfumed rose petal and black cherry lift from the glass and are met with hints of smoky oak. There is energy and tension on the palate as black fruits and notes of grilled meats envelop well-structured and elegant tannins. In tandem, elements of Bing cherry and bergamot deliver a subtle acidity that provides the backbone to complete the wine.”- Matt Courtney, Consulting Winemaker.
