Healthy bright lemon-yellow. Tangy aromas of lemon and orange zest, fresh herbs and crushed rock. Juicy and lemony but denser than the Santenay Clos de Malte. Saline minerality and an edge of acidity give the wine good cut. Finishes slightly tart, with a note of lemon curd.
The 2012 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Clos de la Croix de Pierre has a very refined bouquet: dark berry fruit and respectable mineralite. The palate is medium-bodied with fine purity and elegant tannins. This is such a dainty Pernand and even though is lacks a little weight on the finish, this is very well crafted.
Chewy, robust dark stone fruit and cherry aromas with impressions of old vines, earth and leather are confirmed on this wine's palate in a broad, generous texture supported by firm, rustic tannins.
