Ripe blue and black berries, a touch of balsamic, and light spices wrap around a strong mineral core in this ’11 Rosso Superiore; sporting a velvety yet fresh mouth-feel, this wine is approachable now, but it has the structure to drink for years. Crafted from 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 15% Sangiovese, this Rosso Superiore derives from a single 25-acre vineyard whose unique terroir of stones, calcareous clay and ancient sea fossils transmits its Bolgheri locale in every sip. The grapes vinify in cone-shaped oak vats, and the wine ages for 18 months in barrique, followed by a year in bottle before release.
