
VISUAL: You can tell the age of the wine by the color in the glass, also if you look at the legs of the wine you can determine quality aspects
SMELL: When you first start smelling wine, think big to small. Are there fruits? Think of broad categories first, i.e. citrus, orchard, or tropical fruits in whites or, when tasting reds, red fruits, blue fruits, or black fruits. Getting too specific or looking for one particular note can lead to frustration.
IN YOUR TONGUE: You will be able to perceive that the flavor runs throughout the mouth. You will notice how it runs along the sides, which indicates that it is a quality wine due to its structure.
