Earthy dark fruits and incense precede black fruit and bitter chocolate flavours on the palate. Barbera d’Alba Franco Amoroso is medium bodied with a firm tannin structure and potential for some cellaring.

Barbera, which ripens earlier than Nebbiolo, is planted throughout Piedmont on slopes with varying expositions and giving rise to a selection of DOCs.
