Domaine Pierre Gelin Fixin Les Hervelets 2017

Wines from Fixin are typified by their robust, tannic, and sometimes “sauvage” character. This Fixin premier cru was completely de-stemmed and aged for 20-24 months in 25% new Burgundian pièce. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. Les Hervelets often shows a bit more nuance and finesse than a typical Fixin wine.

Aromas of raspberries, sweet soil tones and grilled squab introduce the 2017 Fixin 1er Cru Les Hervelets, a medium to full-bodied, satiny wine with an ample core of fruit, framed by juicy acids and light but chalky tannins and concluding with a savory finish. It's an elegant middle-weight this year, and will drink well young.
