DESCRIPTION

This dark beauty offers a liveliness and freshness that one does not often find in wines from the northern Rhône. If you like your Saint Joseph smooth as silk and imbued with violets, this one's for you.
The Saint Joseph comes from a 40 year old parcel of Syrah, grown on rugged, steep slopes of granite. The wine is pure and densely structured with aromas of black berry, plum, cherry, black pepper  spice, smoked meat, olive tapenade and herbs de Provence. In the mouth, there is an explosion of meaty, spicy fruit but kept in check with firm acidity, minerality and tannin. It's pretty darned delicious right out of the gate, but a little patience
