Chateau de la Maltroye Batard-Montrachet 2016 |
Crushed white wildflowers, citrus zest, anise seed, and spice frame the big, juicy stone and orchard fruits in this Bâtard-Montrachet. Copious dry extract clings to the cheeks of this superbly balanced, very vibrant wine that while dry conveys a sense of sweetness and fatness on the palate.
An overtly floral nose offers up plenty of acacia, lavender and lilac scents that surround the beautifully layered aromas of various white orchard fruit, citrus and spice, all of which are trimmed in just enough wood toast and matchstick nuances to warrant mentioning.
The dense, serious and powerful flavors possess both an imposing scale as well as superb mid-palate density before culminating in a surprisingly refined and massively long finish. This is a really interesting Bâtard in the sense that it’s at once powerful yet elegant
