Alain Voge Cotes du Rhone Les Peyrouses 2015
Interesting Rhone from a producer i have not tasted before . Good experience give it three years in cellar and it will unfold its potential - tannic now but softened a bit during one hour in the carafe
Fruit bomb without the acidity necessary to ground it. Interesting “new world” approach from this family. Not characteristic of their technique or tradition.
Earthy, dry, dark fruits, some smells of leather and tobacco. Nice, a little less smooth to start, opens up and softens.
Alain Voge is most known for his Cornas. Les Peyrouses is 100% syrah from the most northern part of cotes du rhone, just south of Cornas.
Seriously good value. High toned aromas of red berries, umami, violets and green pepper. Fresh acidity, soft tannins and a spicy finish. Drink young but will keep for a couple years. I will be buying more.
Paired with pizza with porcini and sausage meat.
