DESCRIPTION

The limestone soil of Fremieres is mixed with gravel and pebbles contributing to the wine's aromatic complexity. Fremières shows red berries and floral aromas on the nose with an underpinning of minerals. Medium weight and moderate tannins make for a more substantial village-level Chambolle. The wine is a pure expression of its terroir thanks to its élevage in a combination of used oak and clay jars.

The expressive nose freely offers up notes of the essence of red currant, plum, spice and an earth wisp. The mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is notably denser with good volume and minerality that really comes up on the more complex and better balanced finale where a hint of bitter cherry pit character emerges. This is a very good Chambolle villages and worth checking out.
