Alheit La Colline Vineyard 2017 |
Dark- and light-skinned Sémillon are picked together, then whole-bunch pressed and fermented together for this stunning wine. Pure and direct, it opens with pristine aromas of fresh melon, yellow apple, white strawberry hull and honeysuckle, with a touch of ocean breeze in the back.
The palate is bright and lively, with laser-cut acidity and a beautiful seam of stony minerality that weaves throughout the yellow apple, spiced orange and Anjou pear flavors. It's harmonious, complete and superbly balanced, with a lingering ginger-peach-tea accent on the close.
The nose shows dried citrus skin, ripe orange/tangerine, baking spices and thatch. This wine is unusually complex, even for La Colline. The palate shows serious concentration and depth, kept in check by fine acidity. 13.5% alc
