DESCRIPTION

Not flashy or overly fruity, the wine shows depth, purity and structure—characteristic of the site's low-vigor, stony, clay-rich soil. Vrede Pinot Noir hails from a steep, northeast-facing slope in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley with low-vigour, stony, clay-rich Bokkeveld shale soil.

Really rather burgundian nose. Proper, well-constructed wine with a dry finish and reasonably accessible opening impressions. Really very exciting and palate-gripping with quite enough ripe fruit. Long. Bravo! Bitter cherries.
