Zironda Valpolicella Ripasso 2017 |
Ripasso Valpolicella Zironda is made from the grapes of 70 % Corvina and 30 % Rondinella and aged for 3 months in barrel.
Scent: Lovely shades of violets and red berries that wrap around the spices.
Taste: Full-bodied, very well-balanced with red fruits and soft ripe tannins.
Server for: Game, dark meat and mild cheeses
The wine:
The grapes are de-stemmed and the first fermentation is started. During fermentation, grape skins are pressed into the wine three times a day. The wine is then stored in steel tanks until February, when grape skins from the Amarone wine are added to the mixture. The fermentation is started again. The wine is then stored in oak casks before being bottled and released for sale.

Smooth and delicious
This was one of five Amarones I purchased. This one was excellent a bit on the sweeter side, but not overly so and very smooth.
