The Zerran Montsant is a monster of a wine bargain. How about 91 points from Steven Tanzer and 90 Points from both Robert Parker and the Wine Spectator! We liked the 2011 Vintage of the Zerran Montsant, but this one soars above with a dandy array of beautiful dark fruit, intense but balanced flavors, for drinking now or holding for a few years.
The Zerran Montsant is a red blend of Garnacha 50%, Mazuelo 40%, and Syrah 10%. The Garnacha grapes are said to be from old and steep hillside vineyards. Garnacha wine has a large span from light to bold, depending where grown in Spain. In the Montsant, the Garnacha is all about bold.
