Vinous 92 points - Very deep, almost impenetrable purple-ruby; frankly, I find such color to be needlessly dark for Amarone. Subdued but penetrating aromas of violet, plum and botanical herbs. Then exceptionally smooth and creamy, but with lively acidity adding freshness and extending the cocoa, coffee and blackcurrant fruit on the long suave finish. Finishes with some alcohol-derived heat (16.5% alcohol) and hints of coffee. Not the most traditional Amarone you’ll ever drink, but fairly irresistible nonetheless..Ian DAgata, May/2017

Wine Advocate 91 points - This is the Zenato family’s top-shelf red wine. The 2011 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Sergio Zenato offers a huge aromatic presentation and a slow, syrupy appearance with viscous glycerine that spreads evenly over the surface of the glass. The concentration is so big and overdone, you taste the bitterness and the ripeness of the grape skins. This is the proverbial too-much-of-a-good-thing wine at a whopping 16.5% alcohol. Made from a very strict selection of Corvina, Rondinella and Sangiovese grapes from the Sant’ Ambrogio district. The grapes were harvested in September and October and raisined for four months before fermentation. After aging for 36 months in large barrels, the wine is refined for several months in bottle.
