
IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS
Yealands's single-vineyard Pinot is a dense, rich wine that currently sits under a blanket of mealy, charred oak. There's plump red berry fruit and earthy, peppery nuances, too, and the fruit does fight its way to the fore with time in the glass or decanter, but the barrel nevertheless wears a heavy cloak, which encircles the palate as well. Tannins are savory, and there's an appealing silky texture, but the oak feels sour and mealy, particularly at the finish.
Notes of dark cherry, violets and spice dominate the nose. The palate is full and structured, yet elegant with flavors of luscious dark cherry balanced with a fine mineral acidity.
This wine matches beautifully with red meat dishes, including venison and lamb. Suitable for vegetarians, vegans and a gluten free diet.
