Vincent Girardin Chevalier Montrachet 2015 |
Bright medium yellow. Uncanny complexity to the vibrant aromas of peach, minerals, citrus peel and musky white flowers. The suavest of these 2015s, boasting superb inner-mouth energy and sappiness to its flavors of pear, white peach, spices and crushed stone. In spite of its serious volume and creamy notes of crème anglaise and vanilla, this grand cru remains seamless and light on its feet, saturating the entire mouth without leaving any impression of weightiness.
Heavy reduction is exacerbated by the presence of sulfur compounds. While there is good energy and punch to the stony big-bodied flavors there is also a curious and concerning metallic character on the edgy and lean finish. This may very well clean up but it would be fair to say that it is very awkward today.
