The distinctive 2010 Maquis Lien is made from a finely tuned blend of 50% Carménère, 35% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot. It is a generous red wine that reflects the character of the Hurtado family's special plot of land.
Bright violet color. Complex, highly perfumed bouquet evokes fresh dark berries, floral oils, mocha and licorice pastille. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering bitter cherry and blackcurrant flavors and a subtle touch of cola. The lingering finish features dusty tannins and a sweet floral quality.
Food pairing |
This bold, full-flavored red pairs beautifully with a wide array of robust, hearty dishes, but really shines in the company of beef and lamb, especially in grilled preparations. The lipids from the meat coat the palate and help to tone down youthful tannins. Grilling is recommended as it adds a smoky, bitter component that complements the wine's spicy, toasty oak aspects. This intriguing blend also promises amiable companionship to vegetarian cuisine. Try it with lentils, eggplant, black beans and wild mushrooms, as well as red and green bell peppers. |
