Trivento Malbec Reserve 2017 |
Wine Spectator 90 points - Blackberry and dark currant flavors are concentrated and very juicy in this ripe, spicy style, with hints of licorice and dark chocolate on the finish. Drink now through 2021. 600,000 cases made. -KM.October/2018
Wine Advocate 91 points - The traditional 2017 Reserve Malbec is fruit-driven, floral, juicy and easy to understand. It was produced with grapes from Lujan de Cuyo and Valle de Uco, with 20% of the volume in contact with oak staves. 2017 was a concentrated vintage because of the low yields caused by frost. The wine has more weight than it normally has. It has berries, flowers and wild herbs, a fresh palate with lively acidity. Straight, simple, direct, clean and what wines like this should be. The quality is really impressive for the volume they produce-no less than eight million bottles of this wine..June/2018
Decanter 91 points - Paz Levinson: Crunchy and fresh red and black fruit, with perfumed violet notes. The palate is very balanced and fresh, with lovely energy and purity. Patricio Tapia: An approachable, fruity style. Plenty of strawberry and raspberry notes..October/2018
Trivento is the name of Chile’s giant Concha y Toro in Mendoza. They produce 30 million bottles (yes, you read it correctly!) and own 1,500 hectares of vineyards, but they also have some small crafted lots that I had the chance to try with winemaker German di Cesare. The wines seem to have improved in the last few years and show restraint, balance, approachability and freshness at affordable prices. Very reliable wines, showing the character of the places, grapes and vintages, with good availability and affordable prices. - Luis Gutierrez, 237, The Wine Advocate, 29th Jun 2018
Trivento Reserve Malbec is an ideal match to full-flavored foods and barbequed meats.
