Thibault Liger-Belair Corton Charlemagne 2018 |
This stunning Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a wonderfully attractive bouquet with lemon curd, dried apricot and chalk/mineral notes that gain intensity with time in the glass. The palate is superbly balanced with a fine line of acidity, fresh and tensile with a touch of salinity on the finish. There is something special about this wine, likely coming from the meticulous farming and minimal handling in the winery - a special bottle here.
Smoke, cloves, cool mint perfume, hazelnut, intense melon and grapefruit, almond – complexity. It strikes on the palate with outstanding grip and texture, tight acidity, something like fresh apricot in the mix, but it’s the soaring length that sets it apart. Hard to recall a Chardonnay with such persistence and line.
