• 100% Syrah • Sourced from a combination of different soils: quartz-based soils from the Mullineux's Kasteelberg vineyard, stony schist-based soils on the mid-slopes of Kasteelberg, decomposed granitic soils of the Paardeberg, and iron-rich soils north of Malmesbury • Hand harvested in the early morning at each vineyard site • Crushed 80% whole cluster to ensure the best expression of its unique Swartland terroir • Cap management took place to encourage natural and gentle extraction during the indigenous fermentation and after four weeks • The wine was pressed to 500L French barrels for 11 months • The Syrah was then blended and aged for an additional ten months before bottling
