Smith & Hook Proprietary Red Wine Blend 2014 |
The fruit for this wine comes from four prestigious appellations of the Central Coast: Arroyo Seco for structure and backbone; San Antonio Valley for rich plum and currant flavors; Santa Lucia Highlands yields rich, opulent flavors of blackberry and spice; and Paso Robles for black cherry notes and seductively round and supple tannins. The result is a spirited, layered and luscious red blend.
After harvest, we barrel-ferment Smith & Hook in French oak, beautifully melding each vineyard’s distinctive flavors into a robust and richly layered blend. We age this red blend in French oak for 26 months.
Opulent aromas black currant, plums and blueberry pie of greet the nose, accompanied by hints of tobacco and leather. The refined yet robust palate is multi-dimensional showcasing flavors of dark berries and vanilla complemented by velveteen gripping tannins, a savory, richly dense mouthfeel and lingering finish.
