Sire de Beaupré is a bright and lively sparkler produced in Tournan en Brie, located between Paris and the western reaches of the Champagne district. A Vin Mousseaux, Sire de Beaupré is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, gleaned from myriad French wine growing regions, achieving second fermentation (the one that the bubbles come from) in tank rather than a bottle.
Great value— for sparkling wine made in Tournai en Brie (approx. 115 km from Champagne). This is Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Bright, lively, shows apple, pear on the palate with a slightly creamy texture and medium-lasting finish. The night before, had a Champagne that was four times the price and only nominally better— for my money, I’ll take this.
