• Single cask single malt Japanese whisky produced by Kanosuke Distillery in Kagoshima, Japan • Cask #18162 selected by High Road Spirits exclusively for the US • Distilled from 100% unpeated malted barley • Double distilled using a combination of Kanosuke’s three Miyake copper pot stills • Aged over 5 years; aged 45 months in an ex–bourbon cask and finished in an ex–IPA beer cask for 16 months • Big aromatics of fresh hops, rum candies, vanilla, and Japanese cinnamon precede a structured and dynamic palate full of lively malt, Citra hops, and grapefruit with fresh pine and delicate baking spice on the finish • Allergen advisory: May contain gluten • Only 210 bottles produced • Non-chill filtered; bottled at a cask strength of 57% ABV The first of a handful of US-exclusive single casks from Kanosuke Distillery was first aged nearly four years in an ex–bourbon cask before being transferred to an ex–IPA beer cask for an additional sixteen months of aging. This IPA cask—originally an ex–bourbon cask used to age Kanosuke single malt whisky—was given to Tokushima craft brewery Rise & Win, where it was used to rest one of their IPAs for roughly three months. The result is a perfect marriage of bright, citrusy hops and Kanosuke’s bold signature malt.
