Simonassi Malbec 2012

Tasting Note: If jam could be made into wine, a mouthful of jam wine would taste like this.

There is fresh plum, cherry and chalkiness on the nose of this inky wine. You can feel the high acidity at the back of your mouth and on the sides of your tongue.

The wine has a slight bit more complexity than expected from a wine that initially presents itself as being straightforward and simple. A solid bottle of jammy malbec – though I wouldn’t spread it on your toast.

Bottle Note: Simonassi Lyon Winery has produced this wine with the utmost attention to detail, both in the vineyard in the winery. Partially aged in new French oak (12 months), this is quintessential malbec: dark, ripe, dense & chewy with copious amounts of currant, cherry and raspberry fruit, framed by a touch of vanilla and anise. Long with silky tannins. Only 1,000 cases made.
