IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS

Shaw and Smith has established itself as one of Australia's finest wineries, specialising in the varieties that thrive in the cool-climate of South Australia's Adelaide Hills. Another exceptional example of Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir, the 2016 Shaw and Smith Pinot Noir will again delight the many fans of this wine.

"Don't think, just drink, as this wine embodies the Hot 100 judging week’s MO: ‘drink easy’. An absolute pleasure to slurp, it’s a walk in a forest with all the cherries, mushrooms, herbs and spices you could hope for - all in season, all at once. There’s brightness on the palate that had the judges singing its praises in unison on the last day of judging. And what a song."

An Adelaide Hills staple is crowned the most drinkable wine of 2017/2018: Shaw + Smith’s 2016 Pinot Noir.… Nearly 1400 wines were  blindtasted

Perfumed and delicate with silky tannins.

Pinot Noir is the most temperamental of varieties and remains a challenge for site, season and winemaking – Shaw + Smith has joined the quest albeit in a ‘small batch’ way. First produced experimentally in 2004 and commercially in 2007. Site selection, the right clonal mix, minuscule yields and fastidious vineyard management are essential to success.

Even ripening and good growing conditions made 2016 a standout year for Pinot Noir in Lenswood. This vintage is very perfumed with great intensity.

Hand picked and sorted. Combination of whole berry and whole bunch fermentation. Fifteen days on skins. Matured in French oak, majority puncheons.
