The northernmost Beaujoalis Cru gives wines with dark fruit and prounounced granite minerality, and Romuald Petit has certainly captured the essence of the appeltion in this terrific bottle of Gamay. Plenty of deep black fruit, for sure, but also a savory element on top of the aromas and bottom of the very long, rich, stony finish.
This is Beaujolais dressed up to go out someplace fancy, and if you cellar it for 5+ years, it will become very Burgundy-like. But we recommend decanting and enjoying it right now for exactly what it is: very high-end feeling, well-priced, Beaujolais.
