• Practicing Organic • 88% Carignan, 12% Valdiguié • Three historic Mendocino County vineyards: two valley-floor sites and one high-elevation site • Bartolomei Ranch, Talmage – dry-farmed, planted 1940s • McCutchen Ranch, Pine Mountain – planted 1960s • Valdiguié from Lolonis Ranch, Redwood Valley – planted 1940s • All vineyards are head-trained, dry-farmed, and planted to heritage varieties • Soil types range from red clay (valley) to rocky, scrabbly terrain (mountain) • All fruit hand-harvested in early October • Fermentation in a mix of open-top tanks (both whole cluster and destemmed) and closed tanks (true carbonic maceration) • 50% whole cluster • Pressed off skins early and went to barrel sweet to preserve freshness • Aged 10 months in a mix of neutral oak barrels and stainless steel • Bottled unfined and unfiltered • 12.5% abv
