A nice port. Light body with heavy alcohol on the nose. Orange color with a light green rim Lots of caramel on the forward taste transitioning to nuts and orange. Lacks fruit and more in the Madeira style than a classic Tawny. Medium length finish. Honestly, the $10 Seppelt DP 30 is a better Tawny port at 1/10th the cost. Had second tasting fo the same bottle 2 days after opening....it has a much more mellow flavor with fruit finally pushing through the alcohol. I'll stick with my score of 89 but happy the wine is less austere than first tasting.The color is a very light carmel and orange with a hint of green in it. The nose has some VA and hints of oak, slight toffee, and a faint herbalness to it. On the palate it is very rich and just explodes in the mouth and has waves of toasted almonds, glycerin, a touch of cedar and vanilla. Unfortunitly, the finish loses some of that compexity and is not super long, slighting reducing its overall score. None-the-less, a very tasty 40 year tawny and a good start to the day. 91-92 points
