IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS
TASTING NOTES
Deep purple in color, with dark alluring aromatic notes of blackberry, molasses, leather, cinnamon and toasted cedar with hints of mint and rosemary. The first sip shows juicy flavors of dark ripe cherry, raspberry compote, graham cracker pie crust and toasted marshmallow. The finish is long and drying with notes of plum, vanilla and toasted pecan.
WINEMAKER NOTES
An exceptional growing season in Lodi, 2016 had just enough heat during the day with cool nights to keep the grapes hanging until optimal ripeness at harvest. The Cabernet Sauvignon fruit clusters were small but highly concentrated and of good quality. A majority of the fruit was sourced from Lodi growers that we have worked with on previous vintages. Then we added a small amount of fruit from Schatz Vineyards in the Borden district of Lodi. The balance of the blend is a collection of red varietals including Petite Sirah from Clarksburg, Merlot from Lodi, Tempranillo from Paso Robles and Cabernet Sauvignon from high elevation Amador County vineyards. All add their own distinct nuances of dark fruit, softness, complexity and structure.
FOOD PAIRINGS
To stand up this rich Cabernet Sauvignon, pair with heartier dishes such Italian sausage over penne pasta with Bolognese, pork ragout over polenta, wood-fired meat pizza, or lasagna.

Funny label, seriously delicious Cabernet
Funny label, but a very serious bottle of cabernet. Our second case. Excellent.

Superb choice
Plungerhead has created a reputation for excellence, and this vintage of their Lodi Cab Sav is a pleasure--a complex body with an evolving finish, with each transition being integrated into subtle bursts of flavor and aroma. Highly recommended.
