A taut and cerebral vintage after the boldness of its predecessor. Salted cherries, liquorice and dark chocolate as well as sweet spiciness from nutmeg and clove show on the nose. The tannins are again tea-like and chalky and the acidity racy and fresh, softening somewhat in the glass as the Vrede vineyard’s depth of fruit unfurls.
