From three separate parcels, the 2015 Meursault has a lovely floral bouquet in the making, quite intense with hints of acacia honey, pear and a touch of sea spray. The palate is fresh and crisp with a fine line of acidity, dense in the mouth with a composed and spicy-tinged finish that has just the right amount of salinity. This is excellent.
A deft application of wood sets off ripe and exuberantly fresh aromas of hazelnut, essence of pear and discreet spice nuances. There is excellent richness to the very round and caressing medium-bodied flavors that possess unusually good energy for the vintage on the lightly saline and mineral-inflected finish. This is good stuff and worth your interest.
One of the benchmarks for the appellation, Morey’s 2015 Meursault offers up a beautiful bouquet of Anjou pear, confit citrus, mint and oatmeal. On the palate the wine is glossy, concentrated and deep, with a taut core of acidity and extract. As Anne Morey remarks, the domaine makes vins de garde, built for the cellar, so give this five years at the very least, and preferably ten, to unwind.
