Chateau Margaux's second wine is made from 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot this year. This seems a step-up in intensity from previous years which is the result of the creation of a third wine that will be made from 24% of Margaux's production. Lots of fleshy ripeness here as well as lovely Margaux perfume. Polished, silky and very classy, this is probably a better wine than most vintages of Chateau Margaux itself made by the previous owners. Delicious and seductive. Lovely wine.
Showing the elegance and refinement of its first-growth namesake, this superb wine is soft and velvety with the classic Margaux fragrance and finesse.
Time-honored techniques still prevail here. Grapes are manually harvested and sorted. The wine is fermented in oak vats and aged in Tronçais oak barrels as for the first wine. In general, though, Pavillon Rouge is bottled three to four months earlier than Château Margaux.
75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot
