A serious wine with aromas of black currant, dark chocolate, exotic spices and black berries. Chewy tannins form its great structure carrying loads of black fruits, anise, raspberry and wisps of anise.

The 2012 Pinot Noir Summit comes all from the Sta. Rita Hills and is a mix from Bentrock, Radian, Fiddlestix and Rancho La Vina. Completely destemmed and seeing 10 months in 30% new French oak, it’s a medium-bodied, balanced and textbook Pinot Noir that gives up notions of darker berry fruits, ground underbrush, earth and spice. I like the concentration here, and it has notable tannin as well, all suggesting it should drink nicely for 5-7 years."
