Opus One Napa Valley Red 2007

 Two of the strongest wines ever made at Opus One, the 2007 has terrific black currant fruit, licorice, incense, and subtle smoke, an opulent, even voluptuous mouthfeel, dazzling purity and texture, and a skyscraper-like mouthfeel.  Tight and firm, with a chewy edge to the dried currant, graphite, blackberry and mineral notes. Full-bodied and intense, without being weighty, this is well-structured with a complex, persistent finish. (JL)  (10/2010)

 If you like your Opus on the fruit forward side, then this is for you. Plums and raspberries verging on jam, with chocolate covered cherries on the nose. Full bodied, soft, and friendly with caressing tannins and a very fruity finish. Drink this now while the 2006 ages.  (4/2011)

 Fresh red-ruby color. Medicinal kirsch and spices on the nose, plus a suggestion of rose. Wonderfully sweet and seamless but given shape and definition by lovely floral lift and firm acidity. There's something old school about this beauty, which has lost some of its baby fat while retaining its primary fruit character. Finishes with substantial tongue-dusting tannins and a repeating element of dried flowers. Still young but delicious right now. (ST) 92+  (5/2017)
