VINEYARD DESCRIPTION: The Quicksilver Vineyard lies on the western Rutherford bench, in theacclaimed area on Bella Oaks Lane. The soils are predominantly well drainedloams that produce vines of moderate size. These older vines were planted tothe California sprawl system, with wider spacing and a divided canopy, givinggreat exposure to the fruit. Minimal irrigation is needed to obtain maximumfruit potential.HARVEST NOTES: Similar to 2012, warm days and cool, foggy nights prevailed, offering the perfectconditions for fruit and tannin maturity. The season began about 10 days aheadof last year and the crop load was lighter due to rigorous pruning. We pulledleaves at the center of the vine and around the clusters to allow proper exposure,then waited for the warm, summer temperatures to ripen the fruit. This vineyardis located at the Rutherford and Oakville boundary, and the cooler nights in thisarea allowed the fruit to hang until mid-October, gaining full maturity.SENSORY EVALUATION: The 2013 Quicksilver Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon presents intriguing aromasof plum, cherry, raspberry and sage. These vibrant fruit characteristics arecarried on to the palate with hints of thyme, black tea and signature Rutherforddust. This medley of juicy fruits and herb makes this wine remarkably appealing,while the elegant and coating texture carries these flavors to a luscious finish.
