TASTING NOTES
Gorgeous aromas of earthy mushroom and fresh raspberry are highlighted by notes of fresh violet and ripe plum. The palate expands to include a savory abundance of red currant, dark cherry, rich mocha and wild strawberry on a long, velvety finish.
WINEMAKER NOTES
An early growing season and bud break led to an early harvest in Monterey with average grape yields and high quality fruit. Night temperatures throughout the growing season were warmer than usual which led to nicely balanced and rounded wines with optimal acidity. Sourced entirely from Monterey, the Pinot Noir grapes were crushed and fermented warm, 85 degrees Fahrenheit, in a stainless steel fermenter. At dryness the must was pressed into stainless steel for settling, then racked cleanly for aging in French Oak barrels. To provide structure and backbone, a small amount of Petite Sirah and Syrah was blended in.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Bright and fresh, this Pinot Noir pairs wonderfully with various dishes such as grilled eggplant bruschetta, roasted mushrooms with herbs, or pork chops with fresh peaches and basil.
