Montesco Punta Negra (Passionate Wine) 2019 |
Matias Michelini is one of Argentina's most radical winemakers. Known as "Green Michelini", his colorful winemaking has made him a rebel of the Argentine wine scene. His wines are lean and mineral-driven with an electric acidity, quite a far cry from many of the fruit-driven, full-bodied oak bombs made in the country today. Matias has been at the forefront of Uco Valley winemaking, and in particular, Gualtallary's development over the last decade. He is a firm believer in biodynamic viticulture.
Michelini's 100% Pinot Noir is grown on sandy-loam soil from vines that average 30 years of age. The wine is fermented with native yeasts in concrete vats and aged for one year in foudre. Light ruby color with aromas of ripe cherry, red berries and subtle spice. The palate is light with fine-grained tannins that frame tart red-fruit flavors given lots of energy by lively acidity. Enjoy with a plate of assorted cured meats.
