DESCRIPTION

Wine maker notes
Made from equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, Campanaio is the result of meticulous attention starting with the selection of the plants themselves. Alessandro Cellai began by searching for superior rootstocks and clones and quickly found a passion. His painstaking efforts have resulted in a wine of considerable personality, one that fully shows the characteristics of the international favorites without disguising the unique aspects of the local terroir.

Attractive perfumes of flower petal and black currant. Hints of sandalwood. Medium to full body, ripe and sweet fruit with plenty of vanilla and wood character. Needs a little more bottle time to come together but some may like its vibrant youth.

The 2016 Campanaio is a a fantastic blend consisting of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, which instantly begins with inviting aromas of fresh crushed blackberries, spices tobacco, violets and hints of tobacco all coming together and bursting from the glass. On the palate this is medium-bodied and nicely balanced with a lovely combination of ripe fruits and acidity leading up to the spice-tinged finish. Still a bit youthful now, but there is lovely potential for this to shape up nicely over the next few years.
