Matthews Red Blackboard 2017

This red wine is a combination of many common Bor- deaux varietals, and includes some Syrah for com- plexity. The Blackboard celebrates the use of chalk in our winery, which is used for marking everything from wine barrels, winery walls to fermentation tanks. 

Beautiful notes of strawberry, pureed raspberry, currants, plum jam and spice. Hints of vanilla bean, macerated berries and cocoa powder carry the palate.

This wine is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, 7% Syrah, 6% Merlot and 2% Malbec. Blue-fruit aromas are at the fore along with notes of green pepper and green herb. The concentration is quite light, not able to deliver.
