WINEMAKING
A mix of Old Wente and Clone 4, the fruit for our Chardonnay comes from three vineyards in Napa: Atlas Peak, Mt. Veeder and Oak Knoll. Atlas Peak and Mt. Veeder are both dry farmed and above the fog line which allows the grapes longer ripening hours and helps preserve their acidity. The wine was 100% barrel fermented in a mix of Demptos, Francois Frere, and Seguin Moreau French oak barrels – 60% new – for 11 months before bottling and went through 100% malolactic fermentation with a mix of native and inoculated ferments.
WINE PROFILE
Our 2014 LVE Chardonnay is fruit forward and balanced, delivering aromas of honeydew melon, toasted hazelnut and crème brulée. Luscious and rich on the palate, with a creamy, rounded mouthfeel, its flavors of vanilla crème and toasty oak are balanced with a touch of baking spices.
