Livio Felluga Friulano 2017 |
Full yellow in color with fascinating golden and greenish highlights, this wine offers elegant, intense and captivating aromas. The varietal expression of citrus, tomato leaves and almond is enriched by fruit notes of gooseberry, apricot, kiwi, yellow peach, and by flower aromas of lemon blossom, jasmine, antique rose, and citrus aromas of bergamot and citron peel. On the palate, it is complex and lively, with a soft attack and growing freshness. Notes of ripe Golden apple, dried fruit and vanilla fuse together with balsamic hints of sage and thyme. Pleasant tannins and good persistence with a slightly bitter note in the finish and citrus aftertaste.
Traditionally drunk as an aperitif in Friuli, this wine is a great match with prosciutto crudo, salami and other sliced meats. Also pairs pleasantly with fish dishes and fresh and fatty cheeses.
The 2017 Friuli Colli Orientali Friulano is a well-priced, accessible and versatile wine, but don't underestimate its understated sophistication. You get a very pure and direct interpretation of Friulano, one of Italy's most distinctive white grapes, with generous aromas of stone fruit, melon, saffron and pear. This is a lean-bodied wine, but there is enough inner fiber and substance to keep the wine from ever feeling too thin or short. In fact, the intensity is just right.
