DESCRIPTION

This Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Spätlese presents itself with an elegant, delicate structure. The mineral notes are reminiscent of citrus and Apel.
Weinberg
The "Ürziger Würzgarten" is internationally regarded as a specialty among the Moselle vineyards. It is one of the steepest layers of the Middle Mosel and therefore has a very long exposure to sunlight. It consists of red sandstone and slate soil, which leads to a very special character with lush, spicy, fruity aromas and special fullness.
100% of our vines are rootless, often very old vines (50 - 70 years). Even in very dry years, they manage to extract water and nutrients from the depths of the soil. This combination of medium to deep, very stony slate soils and pure south facing with intense sunlight results in a unique wine worldwide with full-bodied-fruity character and intense mineral aftertaste.
Winery
Founded in 1967 by Karl Erbes, the family business now cultivates
5 hectares of vineyards. The oldest vines are 70-80 years old and rootless. The vineyards are located in the top locations "Erdener Treppchen", "Ürziger Würzgarten" and "Ürziger Kranklei".
The layers are absolute steep slopes that are managed exclusively by hand. When harvesting by hand, special emphasis is placed on selection and low harvest quantities, which later contribute to the high quality and uniqueness of the wines in addition to the specifics of the terroir. Traditionally, the wines are aged in oak barrels.
Thanks to the Mediterranean climate in these slate slopes, unique, especially fruity and aromatic wines are grown worldwide.
The quality work was rewarded in the past years by Gaullt Millau with 3 stars. Further national and international awards, including from Parker, the winery has received year after year.
