The lake is named after an English immigrant, Thomas Crosby, whose family was one of the first settlers and farmers in Minnesota. The Crosby's had a 160 acre farm in 1858; the same year that Minnesota became a state. The pioneering spirit of Thomas Crosby is what helped make St. Paul become a great city.
