Jean Manciat Mâcon-Charnay is a white natural wine made from 100% Chardonnay grapes from the Mâconnais region within Burgundy, France. The vines are from 30 to 35 years old grown on a gentle, stony slope of clay-limestone soils.
Manciat has a passion for wines fermented and aged in oak barrels, and uses a fair amount of new wood for his Vieilles Vignes cuvée and his minuscule production of Saint-Véran. But the Mâcon-Charnay and the single vineyard “Franclieu” are made in stainless-steel vats, to express the fruity, floral aromas and flinty minerality that characterize the best Chardonnay in the region.
